Call for Expressions of Interest for the Demonstration Phase
Objectives of the Call for Expressions of Interest:
GoodFood is a 4-year integrated project co-funded by the EC with the
strategic objective of contributing to the new generation of analytical
methods based on Micro and Nano Technology solutions for the safety
and quality assurance of the complete food chain. Compared to currently
available solutions, the main advantages being pursued within GoodFood
with the use of Micro Systems are the developments of portable devices
of low cost, low power, simple use and fast detection response.
Different food families are addressed within the GoodFood project being
the main research targets as follows:
- Microsystems for Food Safety: Detection of the presence of chemical
substances (species of antibiotics, pesticides and mycotoxins) and life
organisms (pathogens and toxigenic fungi).
- Microsystems for Food Quality: continuous control and punctual monitoring
of the food freshness and quality.
- Microsystems for the Improvement of food production: Introduction
of the Ambient Intelligence Paradigm in the food chain.
The set-up of demonstration activities is being implemented for the
final period of the project (January to June 2007) and four specific
technological implementations coming from the R+D activities of the
project are open for the involvement of new external interested organisations:
- GF-DEMO-01: “Monitoring for the chilled/frozen fish
logistic chain based on Flexible Tag Microlab (FTM) system”:
A Demonstrator of Flexible Tag Microlab (FTM) will be available for
temperature and time inlay monitoring.
- GF-DEMO-02: “Microsystem for the evaluation of fish
freshness”:
A Demonstrator will be available for the determination of fish freshness
thorugh the sensing of volatile amines (DMA, TMA) expelled by fish.
- GF-DEMO-03: “Flexible tag datalogger for wine quality
control”:
A Demonstrator of Flexible Tag Microlab (FTM) will be available for
the traceability of a wine bottle, including information of environmental
conditions (i.e. temperature, light and humidity) during storage and
transport.
- GF-DEMO-04: “Ambient Intelligent Site for the vineyard”:
A Demonstrator of an Ambient Intelligence Platform with data analysis
models will be available for quality & safety monitoring during
wine production.
As a result a Call is now launched from October 20th, 2006 to November
30th 2006 for receiving Expressions of Interest coming preferably from
Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) willing to participate in
the implementation and demonstration of the above mentioned systems
in their facilities.
Terms of Participation:
- Selected partners will become full partners of the GoodFood project
for the period of demonstration (maximum duration of six months, from
January to June 2007).
- Budget and specific workplan will be agreed among the selected partners
and GoodFood partners involved in the demonstration work, with the supervision
of the GoodFood Demonstration Committee according to the required workload
agreed with the new partner.
- Funding will be according to the conditions fixed by the EC for demonstration
activities, with co-funding with own or other external sources.
- The funding amount available from the EC for the present call is 275.000
Euros.
- The participation in the GoodFood Demonstration phase will allow new
partners to have prior access to innovative R&D results and their
adaptation to the specific partners processes.
- Exploitation agreements will be defined according to the degree of
participation of the new partners.
Selection Process for the Expressions of Interest:
- Selection of new partners will be carried out by the GoodFood Demonstration
Committee according to the skills and facilities of the new potential
partners and their matching with the specifications of the systems being
developed within GoodFood.
- SME’s will be priorised for the demonstration of the systems
in real environments.
- Partners of the State Members of the European Union and Associated
Countries will be priorised.
Agenda for the Demonstration Process:
- Launching of the call for Expressions of interest: 30th of October
2006
- Closing of the call for Expressions of interest: 30th of November
2006 at 5PM (Brussels time).
- Publication of the results of the Expression of Interest Call: 16th
of December 2006
- Starting Negotiations with new partners: 17th of December 2006
- Starting administrative work with new partners: 2nd of January 2007
- Starting demonstration activities: 2nd of January 2007
- End of demonstration activities: 30th of June 2007
